Wendy Coleman lives and works in Cape Town, South Africa. She has a MFA degree from the University of Cape Town where she presented for this degree an exhibition of ceramic vessels and a dissertation entitled “Early 21st century funeral vessels for the quick and the dead.” In addition to teaching Art and Ceramics in a number of Cape Town high schools, Wendy ran a small company called Homebakes Ceramics which produced quirky functional dinnerware which played upon the conventions of fine bone china. Wendy is now working in her studio at home, hand-coiling vessels from a variety of earthenware clays, pots which celebrate the colours and textures of the earth.
